Nobody commits the same tonne twice on purpose. It happens because the commitments live in four different places and nobody has ever added them up.

A buyer calls and the number comes out of memory. Two people on the same farm give two different floors, and neither of them is wrong.

The margin turns up at the end either way. Whether it means anything depends on a sheet written before the cycle began, carrying a number, a formula and a date.

Following the price is not recording it. The record is a sheet whose header names one source, one weekday and one hour, and whose seventh column is the difference.

The comparison at the end of the cycle is not the price you got against the best price of the year. It is what shipped against what you said would ship.

The return quoted for holding grain is measured before the cost of holding it. Every line of that cost is priced somewhere already, and one more month only uses half of them.
